Rev Dr Sam Aboyeji Charges McPherson University Matriculating Students on God-Driven Distinction as 896 Students Are Admitted
McPherson University, Seriki Sotayo, Ogun State, on Friday, 30th January 2026, matriculated 896 new students at its 14th Matriculation Ceremony, reaffirming its unwavering commitment to faith, discipline, and academic excellence as a foremost faith-based institution under the auspices of the Foursquare Gospel Church in Nigeria.
Delivering the matriculation address, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Francis Igbasan, expressed deep gratitude to God for the University’s growth, stability, and steady progress. He disclosed that the matriculating students comprised 881 undergraduates admitted through UTME and Direct Entry, and 15 postgraduate students across various academic programmes.
Professor Igbasan specially appreciated the General Overseer of the Foursquare Gospel Church in Nigeria, Rev. Dr. Sam Aboyeji, for his consistent prayers, visionary leadership, and unwavering support for McPherson University. He noted that the institution continues to thrive as a product of divine direction and sound spiritual stewardship under the Foursquare mission.
The Vice-Chancellor also commended the McPherson University Parents Consultative Forum for their support and commitment to the growth of the institution.
Rev. Dr. Sam Aboyeji, the General Overseer of Foursquare Gospel Church in Nigeria and Visitor to McPherson University who delivered a stirring charge to the matriculating students, urging them to pursue God-driven distinction in their academic and spiritual journey. In his address, Daddy G.O introduced the Five Ds to Distinction, namely:
Desire – God-inspired dreams (Psalm 20:4)
Diligence – Consistent effort and excellence (Proverbs 22:11)
Discipline – Obedience to godly and institutional principles
Determination – Perseverance in the face of challenges
Divine Help – Total reliance on God as the ultimate source of success (Psalm 127:1), emphasizing that except the Lord builds, labour is in vain
A major highlight of the ceremony was the special prayers led by the General Overseer, as he committed the matriculating students, the University community, and their academic journey into God’s hands, praying for wisdom, spiritual depth, moral uprightness, and distinction.
The event concluded with the dedication of seven laptops, various musical instruments, and a coaster bus donated by the McPherson University Parents Consultative Forum, as Daddy G.O prayed over the gifts and dedicated them to the glory of God and the advancement of learning at McPherson University.
