Foursquare National Convention 2025 Opens with Revival Thanksgiving and Reports of Growth Across Ministries
The 2025 National Convention of the Foursquare Gospel Church in Nigeria officially opened on Monday, October 6th, at the Church’s International Camp in Ajebo, Ogun State.
The opening day featured the meeting of the National Ministerial Council, a major gathering of pastors and leaders from across the country, held under the guidance of the General Overseer, Reverend Dr. Samuel Aboyeji.
It was a powerful time of revival prayers, thanksgiving, and reflection as ministers prayed earnestly for an outpouring of the Holy Spirit, the healing of sick bodies, and lasting miracles — both during the convention and across local assemblies.
According to the NMC Secretary, Reverend Mike Ola, about 95 percent of the 1,285 registered members were in attendance — a reflection of strong unity and deep commitment to the work of God.
The exhortation for the day was delivered by Reverend Babajide Olowodola from Foursquare Asokoro Church in Abuja. Speaking on the theme “Do Not Give Up, Give Thanks,” he encouraged ministers to persevere with gratitude, reminding them that “the Lord on high is mightier than the storms around us.”
In her report, Reverend Mrs. Olabisi Aboyeji, President of the Pastors’ Wives and Lady Ministers Fellowship, expressed gratitude to God for the success of their recent biennial conference themed “Grace for Impact.”
The event drew over 6,000 participants in person and more than 2,000 online viewers — one of the largest turnouts in recent years.
She also shared progress on the ongoing Amazing Grace Project — a 100-apartment housing initiative designed to support ministers — and called on members to remain committed to its completion.
Several ministries and institutions also presented encouraging updates.
At LIFE Theological Seminary, the Provost, Professor Orgu, reported that the seminary celebrated its 70th anniversary with a Spiritual Life Retreat and launched a new conversion program in partnership with McPherson University. Expansion projects are ongoing in Ikorodu, Aba, and Abuja, with a new guest house under construction.
From McPherson University, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Francis Igbasan, announced that the school has received over 1,100 new applications this year. He also noted major infrastructural developments, including a new 300-bed hostel and six ongoing projects nearing completion.
The Director of Foursquare Funds Management, Pastor Ayoade Adeyibi, reported a strong financial year, with the FFS Microfinance Bank achieving an 80 percent increase in profit. He encouraged pastors and members to keep supporting the bank, describing it as “a strong ally for the Church.”
On missions and welfare, reports showed continued growth with 44 new missionary districts and 26 missionary zones established nationwide. Over 2,700 pastors have now been migrated to improved health coverage under the Ministers’ Welfare Scheme.
The Convention and Camp Board, led by Reverend Hakeem Ogunniran, announced major improvements at the Ajebo Camp — including a new medical centre serving 12 surrounding communities, four new boreholes, and a 110,000-litre water tank to ensure constant supply.
He also confirmed that the Foursquare mobile app has been successfully launched, with over 90 percent of hostel registrations now completed digitally — part of the church’s ongoing digital transformation.
The Chairman of Foursquare Communications, Reverend Paul Olagunju highlighted the board’s renewed mandate to enhance visibility and develop communication policies for the Church.
He added that there would be 24-hour media coverage throughout the convention to ensure that no member misses out on any session.
Another major highlight of the meeting was the election of new NMC Executive Members, coordinated by Barrister Omole.
Outgoing executives — Reverend Mike Ola, Reverend Yinka Ologunsua, and Reverend Mrs. Adesola Kehinde — were appreciated for their years of faithful service.
After a transparent voting process, Reverend Ade Adeyeye emerged as a new executive member with 496 votes, followed by Reverend Kayode Oloruntola with 419, and Reverend Godwin Akpabio with 410 votes.
Among the female candidates, Reverend Mrs. Taiwo Williams secured 514 votes, while Reverend Mrs. Elizabeth Gaiya came second with 338.
During the plenary, delegates raised vital issues concerning ministers’ welfare, retirement training, and church planting.
Suggestions included starting retirement training earlier and providing more robust welfare support for ministers in active and post-service years.
Responding to questions on missions, the Director of Home Missions reaffirmed the Church’s vision for every zone to plant at least one new church, contributing resources toward this goal.
Looking ahead, Reverend Wale Alaka announced that the next International Convention of Ministers and Leaders will hold from April 13th to 18th, 2026, with the theme “Operating in the Anointing” — featuring Reverend Dr. Sam Aboyeji, Bro. Gbile Akanni, and other anointed ministers.
The session ended with a motion for adjournment by Pastor Lekan Adedotun from Ibadan, seconded by Reverend Abayomi Ayinde of Ifako District, followed by a closing prayer and charge from the General Overseer.
From revival prayers to powerful exhortations and reports of remarkable progress, the opening day of the 2025 Foursquare National Convention set the tone for what promises to be a spiritually refreshing and impactful week — all to the glory of God and the advancement of His kingdom.
