Foursquare Church Inaugurates 2026 National Convention Planning Committee Ahead of 71st Anniversary

The Foursquare Gospel Church in Nigeria on Thursday, 8th January 2026, formally inaugurated the Planning Committee for its 2026 National Convention at the Board Room of the National Office, 38 Akinwunmi Street, Lagos. The meeting, marked the official commencement of preparations for the Church’s 71st Anniversary National Convention themed “BREAKING NEW GROUNDS.”

The Convention Planning Committee is chaired by Rev. Dr. Charles Fashola, District Overseer of the Pleasure Missionary District. Also present were the National Secretary, Rev. Samson Alawode, alongside other members representing the larger Convention Committee that has been entrusted with the responsibility of delivering a successful national convention. 

Delivering an exhortation at the inauguration, the General Overseer, Rev. Dr. Sam Aboyeji, spoke from Isaiah 43:18-19, the anchor scripture for the 2026 Convention. He emphasized that as the Church moves beyond its 70th Convention into a new decade, there is a divine instruction to forget the past, both the good and the bad, and to deliberately press forward, in line with Apostle Paul’s admonition to “forget the things which are behind.” 

The General Overseer charged the committee to make the 2026 Convention new, improved and impactful, describing the assignment as a deliberate effort to defend the cause of Christ and the Church.

According to the National Secretary, Rev. Samson Alawode, the Terms of Reference given to the committee include the following:

- To plan and execute a befitting Annual National Convention for the year 2026.

- To draw up lists of Guest Speakers for the approval of the General Overseer.

- To prepare and present the proposed programme matrix for the consideration of the General Overseer.

- To mobilize worshippers, members, and leaders nationwide towards achieving maximum participation.

- To ensure effective mobilization for the 3rd Sunday offering and other fundraising activities for the execution of the convention.

- To take full responsibility for enforcing discipline and maintaining a decorous atmosphere throughout the convention.

- To put in place effective logistical support for a successful and memorable 71st Anniversary National Convention.

- To ensure adequate, water-tight surveillance and security arrangements in conjunction with the National Security Coordinator (NSC).

- To prepare a budget for executing the convention for the approval of the leadership.

- To plan and execute elaborate publicity coverage for the convention.

- To conduct a successful Convention Public Lecture and press conferences as may be deemed necessary.

- To carry out other activities relevant to the successful execution of the national convention.

Members of the Committee present at the meeting include Mrs. Tolulope Fashola (Wife of the Chairman), who will oversee Special Guests; Rev. Adedapo Adejumo, District Overseer, Anthony District and the Vice Chairman of the Committee, Rev. Lanre Ekundayo of Foursquare Sabo as Convention Secretary; Pst. Akiode Akinkunle from Foursquare Lekki District as Treasurer; Pst. Ajayi Olumide from Foursquare Anthony overseeing the Public Lecture; Rev. Dr. Richard Osadume of Foursquare Ajah in charge of Workshops; Pst. David Adegboyega from Foursquare Anposi in charge of Publicity and Media; Dcn. Charles Enahoma handling Protocol; Pst. Dr. Mrs. Aarinola Adegoke of Sabo in charge of Foreign Delegates; Rev. Mrs. Funmi Adewuyi overseeing Procurement; and Bro. K. M. Akinlabi in charge of Security.

In his response, the Chairman, Rev. Dr. Charles Fashola, expressed appreciation to the General Overseer and the Board of Directors for the confidence reposed in him and his team. He assured the leadership that the Committee would not disappoint and stated that the convention would be used as an avenue to empower some indigent members across all the Districts, and showcase our rising stars through music talent hunts with attractive album recording opportunities. He reaffirmed the Church’s care and commitment to its people. He also disclosed plans to explore the digitalisation of the security framework at the Foursquare Campground, Ajebo.

The inauguration concluded with prayers offered by the General Overseer, committing the Committee to God for wisdom, unity, and greater results.

The 2026 National Convention, themed “BREAKING NEW GROUNDS,” is scheduled to hold from 7th to 11th October 2026 at the Foursquare Camp, Ajebo, and will feature ministration by the General Overseer, Rev. Dr. Sam Aboyeji, Apostle Mike Orokpo, Pst. Wole Oladiyun, and other anointed ministers of God.

National Ministerial Council (NMC) Meeting holds on 5th October, 2026 while Convention Business Meeting holds on the 6th October, 2026.
