Foursquare Gospel Church in Nigeria Announces 12th Annual Public Lecture and 70th Annual National Convention

The Foursquare Gospel Church in Nigeria, under the leadership of its General Overseer, Reverend (Dr.) Sam Aboyeji, has unveiled a line-up of landmark events to commemorate 70 years of God’s faithfulness in the nation. Speaking at a press conference held in Lagos, Reverend Aboyeji warmly welcomed members of the press and the public, highlighting the church’s gratitude to God for seven decades of consistent growth, impact, and spiritual renewal.
As part of the anniversary celebrations, the 12th Annual Public Lecture will take place on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at The Marquee, Harbour Point, Victoria Island, Lagos. The theme for this year is:
“Poverty Alleviation, Economic Development, and Stability of the Nigerian Economy.”
The lecture will focus on one of Nigeria’s most pressing challenges—poverty—and its implications for national stability and sustainable growth.
Chairman of the Lecture: His Excellency, Prince Dr. Dapo Abiodun, CON, Executive Governor of Ogun State.
Guest Lecturer: Dr. Doyin Salami, Senior Fellow and Associate Professor, Lagos Business School, and former Chief Economic Adviser to the Federal Government.
Panel of Discussants: Pastor Ben Akabueze (former DG, Budget and Planning), Mrs. Ini Abimbola (Management Consultant and VP, SPIN), and Dr. Otive Igbuzor (former Country Director, Action Aid Nigeria).
According to Reverend Aboyeji, “This year’s lecture will address one of the most pressing challenges facing our nation today. By fostering meaningful discourse on poverty and its impact, we believe we can contribute to actionable solutions that empower citizens and promote sustainable growth.”
The celebrations will also feature a special October edition of the Holy Spirit Refreshing Dew, the church’s quarterly evangelistic outreach program. This event will be held on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, at Tafawa Balewa Square, Lagos Island, from 8:00 a.m. to 12 noon. The program promises to be a jubilee praise extravaganza with both local and international guest artists joining in heartfelt worship.
The highlight of the anniversary will be the 70th Annual National Convention, holding from Monday, October 6 to Sunday, October 12, 2025, at the Foursquare Campground, Km 75, Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Ajebo, Ogun State.
Themed “Completion and Perfection” (Leviticus 25:13, Psalm 138:8), this year’s convention promises to be a week of revival, restoration, and renewal for individuals, families, the church, and the nation.
Among the distinguished ministers expected are:
Pastor Enoch Adeboye (RCCG)
Bishop David Oyedepo (Winners Chapel)
Pastor Matthew Ashimolowo (KICC)
Bishop Francis Wale Oke (AGPFN)
Reverend Randy Remington, International President of the Foursquare Gospel Church, USA.
Reverend Aboyeji emphasized that this gathering of fathers of faith underscores the unity of the body of Christ in declaring God’s counsel for the church and the nation.
Tracing the journey of the church, Reverend Aboyeji noted that the Foursquare Gospel Church was planted in Nigeria in 1955 through the missionary efforts of Rev. Harold and Mrs. Faye Curtis, alongside local pioneers such as Samuel Odunaike, James Boyejo, and Rev. Friday Osuwa. From a modest beginning at Yankee Bar, Yaba, Lagos, the church has now grown to over 5,000 congregations across Nigeria, with a presence in other African nations including Ghana, Liberia, Togo, and Benin Republic.
Globally, the Foursquare Gospel Church, founded in 1923 by Aimee Semple McPherson in Los Angeles, USA, is present in 157 countries and continues to preach Jesus Christ as the Saviour, Healer, Baptizer with the Holy Ghost, and Soon-Coming King.
In his address, Reverend Aboyeji also extended warm wishes to Nigerians on the occasion of the nation’s 65th Independence Anniversary, encouraging citizens to remain resilient and prayerful. “As a church, we commit to continue in prayers for both the leaders and citizens of this country. We are confident in God for a new Nigeria that we will all be proud of,” he declared.
The Foursquare Gospel Church invites all Nigerians, friends of the ministry, and members of the body of Christ to join in these historic events. The 70th anniversary celebrations are not only a reflection of God’s faithfulness but also a call to greater unity, revival, and national transformation.
