Yaba 70th Anniversary
The Foursquare Gospel Church, Yaba Lagos, is set to mark her milestone 70th anniversary with a series of events aimed at spiritual renewal, community service, and unifying past and present members of the church, both locally and in the diaspora.
The General Overseer of the Foursquare Gospel Church in Nigeria, Rev. Dr. Sam Aboyeji in a statement, explained that the anniversary activities promise to reflect on seven decades of God’s unwavering faithfulness and the church’s impactful mission in Nigeria and beyond.
For the General Overseer, the anniversary, which is centered around spiritual renewal and community engagement, is guided by a mission to recommit the church to winning souls for Christ through initiatives including medical outreaches, soul-lifting musical events, targeted spiritual programs, and robust community service projects to share God's love.
“The objective of the 70th anniversary celebration can be summarized with the following mission statement which is to use the celebration to commit afresh to winning souls for Christ and growing our congregation through impactful community outreaches—using such initiatives as medical outreaches, soul-lifting musical experiences and targeted programs, as well as a robust community service to share God's love.” Rev. Aboyeji explained.
He added, “It will also serve as a platform for reconnecting with all who have been part of the World Mission Centre, including worshippers and members in the diaspora, giving recognition to those with outstanding contributions, thereby fostering a spirit of unity and fellowship.”
He revealed that the next generation of the church will play a central role in the activities as the Children’s Chapel, Teens Chapel, and Blast Church have been tasked with active participation which underscores the church’s commitment to sustaining a thriving future for the faith-based community.
Rev. Aboyeji commended the 70th Anniversary Planning Committee, led by Elder Kehinde Lawanson, for accepting the responsibility to organize what he described as a “befitting and memorable” celebration for the Yaba Church, which also serves as the National Headquarters of the Foursquare Gospel Church in Nigeria.
