NATIONAL SECRETARY’S REPORT TO THE NATIONAL MINISTERIAL COUNCIL MEETING HELD ON MONDAY 13TH NOVEMBER 2017 AT FOURSQUARE CAMP AJEBO

A. PREAMBLE:

Saying Amen: blessings and glory, and wisdom and thanksgiving and honour and power and might, be unto our God forever and ever Amen” Rev. 7:12. With reverential worship, we give all glory to our God and Father for the privilege to report on salient issues affecting our organization in the period under review.

B. OUR OPERATING ENVIRONMENT.

Major events trending in our macro environment shall be presented under the following broad headings:

i. ACT OF PURE EVIL IN LAS VEGAS USA

In what was considered the deadliest mass shooting in modern U.S.A history, a lone gun man perched on the 32nd floor of a Las Vegas hotel unleashed a hail of bullets on an outdoor music event below, killing at least 58 people and wounding over 200 others. President Trump captured the essence of this mindless slaughter of innocent music lovers by dubbing it an “act of pure evil” may the Lord comfort the bereaved families. Amen.

ii. A NATION IN NEED OF PRAYER

The Nation is plagued with myriads of challenges (e.g Spiritual, Political, Economic, Social and Leadership challenges). To this end the National leadership of the Foursquare Gospel Church in Nigeria declared Sunday October 1st 2017 as a solemn service dedicated to praying for the peace of Nigeria Nation. We thank God that all the churches cooperated to seek God’s face for our Nation during this solemn service.

iii. LIFE THEOLOGICAL SEMINARY GETS THEIR FIRST PROFESSOR

Wednesday 10th May 2017 will remain indelible in the memories of the academic community at LIFE Theological Seminary Ikorodu. On this day, Rev. Dr. Ebenezer Olarewaju Adeogun was promoted to the rank of a Professor. That was the first to be bestowed on any lecturer at 62 years of its existence as a theological institution. We give God all the glory that our Decade of Multiplication drive is on course. Two Hundred and Seventy-One (271) new churches were planted this year. Furthermore, forty-one (41) new zones were created, comprising of two (2) full-fledged zones and thirty-nine (39) missionary zones, while two (2) new Districts were brought to being, bringing the total number of Districts to 154.

Sixty Eight (68) ministers were ordained during the National Convention held in November 2016. To God’s glory, this set of ordained ministers donated the sum of Four Hundred and Eighty Thousand Naira (480,000:00) as support to the National office. May the Lord bless them for their thoughtfulness.

iv. PRE-REFRESHING VIGIL PRAYER

This quarterly programme preceding the Holy Spirit Refreshing Vigil is held for days. The programme has become a platform for fellowship, prayers and spiritual nurture for our ministers. We appreciate the commitment of our ministers and leaders towards the prayer programme. However, slight adjustment has been made to reinforce this quarterly pastors’ prayer meeting. Now the Pastors will only pray on the Thursday preceding the vigil. Thereafter, all ministers are encouraged to cluster with other ministers in group prayers on Friday before the vigil. This is to deepen prayer focus and to get into the spiritual mood for the day’s Kingdom business (i.e Holy Spirit Refreshing vigil).

To God’s glory, our Sunday school structure has been adjusted to accommodate the operation of regular discipleship classes on Sunday morning with other graded discipline modular training scaled from foundation to leadership levels. At the end of the five level courses, participants shall be given certificate of participation. An important aspect of the Sunday school structure is the one hour workers’ meeting utilized for preview community fellowship and pastoral nurture.

(b). MOBILIZING FOR EFFECTIVE CHURCH GROWTH AND ENLARGEMENT

The harvest is ripe and every minister is expected to key into our mobilization efforts towards a fruitful decade of multiplication. Some mobilization efforts of the church include the following:

i. AWAKE PROGRAMME:

AWAKE is acronym for Activity Week of Accelerated Kingdom Evangelism. It is a time of intensified or heightened evangelism effort in form of film shows outdoor evangelism, road shows or whatever outreach you can make both to publicize the Refreshing programme and to win souls for Christ.

ii. Holy Spirit Refreshing Vigil: This quarterly programme is a powerful tool for bringing people to Christ.

iii. OCPC (Operation Church Plant Church)

This evangelistic strategy requires every church to plant at least one other church within 3 years while every zone should plant at least one church each year. The National Leadership is giving a grant of #100,000 in support of any new church planted.

(c). MOBILIZING FOR EFFECTIVE CHILDREN MINISTRY

The National Leadership has directed that every church should focus on children ministry as an effective tool for church growth. To this effect, deliberate investment should be made on facilities used by children as well as developing a special home cell for children during Sunday Houses Fellowship period.

(d). TELEVISION MINISTRY

Our ‘Moment of Grace’ programme is making a tremendous impact on peoples’ lives. Many encouraging testimonies from viewers attest to far-reaching mileage the programme has gained within a short period of its debut. For those in Lagos and surrounding states, the programme could be watched on TVC television from 7:30-8:00 pm on Sundays. The network in other state television stations was enlarged to the glory of God.

(e). ROAD TO EDUCATION (RODUCATE)

Our students at all levels will now have access to an educational portal designed to prepare students at all levels for public examinations like W.A.S.C, N.E.C.O, J.A.M.B, Post-UTMB etc. This benefit is fallout of our business transaction with GLO NETWORK.

(f). LAND DOCUMENTS

All churches have their file at the National Office. One of the important documents in the church file is the landed documents concerning the church: it is important that all landed documents should be executed by the representatives of the registered trustees i.e The National Secretary and the General Overseer.

F. CONCLUSION

To God be the glory for the privilege of service in His vineyard. I will ever be grateful to my father in the Lord, the General Overseer for being a worthy example of diligence and integrity. Thanks to the Board, NEC, NMC members for their cooperation and understanding. What could we have done without my co-workers at the National Office, I am also grateful to God for the gift of a supportive and prayerful wife, Chinyere and godly children, David and Samuel. May the Lord take all the Glory.
